Introduction
Elevated
rooftops are commonly known as shingles, which are widely used as they come in
different sizes, shapes and colors. They are chosen per the material
requirement, availability, usage, aesthetic, design and value. Usually,
elevated rooftops, if damaged, require commercial
roof repair if there is an emergency, such as roof repair needs to be done
around an odd time, festival, weekend or there isn’t enough money to get the
roof fixed, one can do it personally too. Personal fixation happens in two
ways. Firstly, one can fix them with materials and the second way is to make
your shingle at the comfort of your own home. Let us now look at different ways
to fix a roof personally at low costs.
Fixing elevated roofs:
1. Personal Procedure: Firstly, look for the cause
for which the shingle has been damaged. If it has gone missing or is cracked,
it can be easily fixed by the use of nailing of tarp across the affected area
or by a simple coating of adhesives such as clay and cement. This procedure
eliminates the need for commercial roof
repair.
2. Make Shingles at home: Firstly,
keep the measurements of the damaged shingle in hand, such as length, breadth
and height etc. After noting these values, you can make a prototype structure
with clay and place it on the tarp. After placement of the clay structure over
the tarp or any other material which is used, carefully trace the shingle into the
sheet and start cutting.
Once the prepared shingle of the sheet is cut,
you can fix it all together by nailing the structure together so it holds. You
can do the nailing with a hammer or with the help of a nailing gun if you
possess the nailing gun and know the procedure to use it. Once, it is made,
with the help of cement or a nailing gun, the shingle can be put in the place
of the damaged shingle causing the repair to be completed.
Conclusion
It can be
concluded that there are two popular ways to fix elevated roofs. One is by just
simply putting adhesives in place of damaged shingle and the other one is to
prepare your shingle at home. Both are cheaper and cost the same. Just to
prepare a shingle, some usage of the brain is required, making it time-consuming
but it is a permanent solution replacing commercialroof repair.
